In 1976, the workshop "EPERVIER" birth and is incorporated in the 231 Cie Maint E - 8 Bn Log.
The main goal at this time was the electronics repair and overhaull.
In 1983, the section moves to Butzweilerhof, near Cologne, and that was the beginning of the real light aviation maintain.
A collaboration between the specific technical specialities that the system needs!

After some spectacular crash, the section had learned to live by itself because of the spectacular fire into the hangar N°2 in Butzweilerhof in 1988.
The detachment was birth in Ossendorf, in the old garages from 17 Tpt.

The last move take place in 1990 to Elsenborn and intagraded the technicians from 80A.

Septembre 03 1999, the last flight is done and the detachment waits for the next UAV, the B-HUNTER.

And now? what's happend...
Since september 2003, thee "Detachment Maintenance Drones" is part of UAV-80A Battery located at Elsenborn.
The old EPERVIER were exchanged by newone, B-HUNTER!
Last but not least, the futur changing of all Air Materials to the Air Componant...
The follow of maintenance of our UAV's by the ILIAS software (New restructuration in the Army!) gives us more potentialities for UAV's life cycle. The material ressources will be controlled with the main goal of more efficience and graw of operationnality.
The EX-Detachment become the futur "Groupe de Maintenance de Elsenborn".

It's now the beginning of a new story: the 80th Squadron UAV!
